Vmware Vsphere Esxi 5.5

3d max download. I'm confused! Trying ESXi 5.5 the free one which I installed. It says download the tools to manage the server at x.x.x.x. When I go there, it says here you can download the vSphere Client, but then it says note the traditional client doesn't support new features, and to use the vSphere Web client instead.

When I launch this app after installing it, right at the top it says I can keep using it but all new features are on the vSphere web client only. I've googled it and tried searching, where on earth is the web client? Gabrielle.L wrote: The web client is only available if you also have a vCenter server -- there's no web client for ESXi. If however you only have a standalone ESXi host (free or licensed) and you need access to the advanced features, you could look at purchasing a VMware Workstation license and managing your host from there. It gives you access to the advanced features. Damn Gabrielle, you are just too fast.

I am going to have to step up my game I see. Lee, let us know if this answered your question! It's just confusing how they do it because when you access the server in the browser after a fresh install, it goes on about using the web client there, and then says download vSphere manager or whatever it is to manage your VMs, but you download it from the link it gives you, and when you run that program, it says the message about this program is old and you should use the web client etc. So just confusing that the system tells you to download it, and then it says it's old, so thought maybe I was missing something obvious. Kind of crazy though for small business, how you can use ESXi but then they say features are missing if you use the Windows application, but if you go to their site and try to buy vCenter it says it's like $6044 lol. You can get a vSphere Essentials kit, which gives you licensing for 3 ESXi hosts (with up to 2 CPUs each) and a single vCenter server, for ~$500: And last I checked, Workstation was still less than $100 for a license. And ultimately, you can still manage ESXi free from the traditional client -- many SMBs don't really need any of the advanced features. Yeah, I was hit hard with this issue this morning. I am trying very hard to not be negative about my answer, but what has happened to me today almost would make me forget VMWARE exists as a company completely.
